By Andrea G Stein

How would you like to dance your way to some quick weight loss? Sounds like fun, right. Most of us know that exercise is an important component of any healthy lifestyle, yet that's the aspect of a weight loss program we dread the most. But what if you could dance your way to losing the pounds?

Well here are some little known facts about dancing:

  • Latin inspired salsa and cumbia dancing is a blast and burns about 400 calories an hour.
  • Belly dancing can burn between 250-300 calories per hour depending on fast you move.
  • Ever wonder why those dancers on Dancing with the Stars are so fit? That's because ballroom dances like the foxtrot, waltz, and tango are true workouts! You can burn between 180 to 480 calories per hour dancing like a star.
  • Ballet can burn up to 100 calories per hour.
  • Modern dances like hip hop can burn between 100 to 400 calories per hour.
  • But the biggest surprise? Line dancing burns about 300 calories for just half an hour of continuous movement!

Line dancing is such good exercise that Scooter Lee, a country music star, lost 150 pounds by starting to line dance. Inspired by her success, she started a non-profit called Dancing for the Dream that gives classes to teach people the health benefits of line dancing.

If you're looking to lose weight exercise is an important component of a healthy lifestyle. But oftentimes, exercise is something to be dreaded. However when you realize something as fun as dancing can be called exercise, losing weight starts to look a lot more fun! Advice From a Prom Goddess - Finding the La Femme Dresses From Dancing With the Stars

Advice From a Prom Goddess - Finding the La Femme Dresses From Dancing With the Stars

By Blair Bill B Mayer

Dancing with the Stars owns primetime real estate in my DVR machine. I watch to see my favorite (and all those love-to-hate) celebrities tango and break dance. And I drool over the glamorous costumes. So it was nice to discover that finding the La Femme dresses from Dancing with the Stars is a piece of cake.

You should know that these are inspiration pieces and are not the actual designs. They're like hot music remixes of your favorite mp3s - a sample of a Ke$ha hit sung by Rihanna. So basically, just as good or better than the original.

Do you wanna dance like the stars at your prom? Your wish is my command. For starters, the most important thing you need to know is how to buy a La Femme dress online. Their website only sells to wholesalers, so you must use your private-eye skills to track down style numbers and a retailer.

Once you've scoped out a retailer and all of the style numbers, it's smooth sailing. I've done some of the work for you. I am your prom goddess after all, that's my job! Grab a pen...

La Femme Formal Dresses

If you're obsessed with satin and you look great in seriously indulgent shades of purple and blue, take note. In eggplant or indigo, there's a satin gown with a whisper of beads (#15283) for $450. And in majestic purple, an off-the-shoulder waterfall of grace (#15102), which is $390.

Are you more of a silk butterfly? The plum chiffon style #15648 would win Miss America without anybody wearing it ($450).

La Femme Evening Dresses

I found many of the DWTS evening gowns, including a dynamite black jersey dress with beads (#15233). I only found one white dress and it's absolute heaven (#15271). It has a celestial moon-shaped center made of rhinestones. Both are $450.

La Femme Short Dresses

There are three short designs reminiscent of the ones worn by the dancers. Style #15248 will look very familiar to you. It looks like a scrumptious bowl of peaches and cream. And there are two daffodil-colored ones. Style #15650 and #15375, which are both as yummy as a double scoop banana split.

All of those looks will glide along with your dance moves and individual accents of gems add a special touch. They're all $298.

La Femme Cocktail Dresses

If you search under cocktail dresses, even more choices will pop up. It seems that many of the DWTS ensembles are created from sunburst silk. There's something about this shade that makes you feel...well, like dancing.

Both styles #15100 ($490) and #15368 ($470) are so regal. They remind me of something Angelina Jolie would wear.

La Femme Prom Dresses

Now I would not be a very good Prom Goddess if I did not point out the two styles that are most prom-worthy. Style #15409 is more beautiful than a Monet. It has girl-next-door innocence with seductive undertones for $398.

And finally, a tranquil silk Athena-look with winsome layers of sky blue dreaminess (#15246) for $490.

Golden Asp has the largest and most unique inventory of la femme dresses and amazing la femme prom dresses in the Philadelphia region for Prom 2010.

Learning to Dance Ballroom Like the Stars

Learning to Dance Ballroom Like the Stars

By Dwight Ferren

Have you ever watched the show Dancing with the Stars on ABC and wished you could learn to dance just like they learned to dance? I understand completely as both my wife and I have also wondered and wished this same thing when we watched the show.

Being a man though that is not ordinary I suppose I will admit to not being ashamed to liking, ok let me be honest here, loving to be with out with my wife. Yes that means that being with your wife also can mean dancing and having a wonderful time not just being in a pub shooting pool or whatever else you like to do guys.

I realized that after watching the TV show Dancing with the Stars that is it possible to learn dancing in a better way then just going around trying to dance the way I danced in High School. It wasn't sexy nor pretty those kind of movements, and now at my age it probably isn't that good for me either. Laugh if you may!

Now that brings up another point, the topic of being good for ones health too. I have noticed that this Show Dancing with the Stars also benefits our fitness and body shape. The Stars seem to becoming more and more fit each and every week, their shapes and sizes changing so dramatically, so quickly as I sat there on the couch eating. So who really gave it any thought that dancing The Rhumba, The Samba, The Tango, The Jive, The Waltz, The Cha Cha or The Tango could make exercise such an enjoyable experience and with such huge benefits too. Well I certainly didn't realize it but now I am reaping the benefits.

Guys, lets get back to us, can you see yourself on the dance floor, moving to the beats of Salsa, Samba, Waltz's and even the Tango with other guys in the room looking at you with envy? That is something that can happen to you as it is happening for me as my wife and I playfully learn to dance the Salsa using the Let's Dance Louis DVD Set. After we get this Salsa Dance completed we have 7 other dances to learn. I think we will try learning the Latin Dances first.

Lastly, there are more benefits to this learning to dance opportunity my wife and I have ventured onto and this is the best, absolutely the best thing that happens from ballroom dancing with my wife cheek to cheek. I am pretty sure you have figured it out already, and it is that our relationship has prospered, flourished, back to the point when our time spent together was filled with passion, excitement and laughter.

Now I think that this has been an excellent investment to my future life with my wife if not the best investment of my life.

Thank you "Louis van Amstel" from "Louis Lets Dance"!

Love, Prosperity and Success to All!

Learn Ballroom Dancing Like The Tango and Salsa From A Celebrity Dance Coach Dancing With The Stars

Learn Ballroom Dancing Like The Tango and Salsa From A Celebrity Dance Coach Dancing With The Stars

By Pleaman Haggett

Well, it's that time of the year again, ABC announced the line-up for another much anticipated season of Dancing With the Stars. How exciting!

My wife and I would sit and watch with envy at all the great moves that the stars where doing. My wife said during the last season "if all the celebrities can dance like that, why can't we?". I had my doubts, considering neither one of us has ever had any kind of dance coaching...ever. In fact, looking back to some weddings and family gatherings we've attended where I have successfully embarrassed myself on the dance floor, I think it would be safe to say that I actually had two left feet.

So I started doing some research on dance training. I looked at some ballroom dancing classes offered locally that were scheduled on days and times that just didn't fit our schedule. I also found several other dance lessons available on DVD, but all were way too pricey. Then I found this great 8 DVD set called Louis Let's Dance.

Lo and behold it was Louis van Amstel, the choreographer my wife loves so much from Dancing with the Stars. I went ahead and bought it thinking we can do this. We could learn dance steps like the stars in the privacy of our own home, and man did we ever learn some dance steps!

We can now dance the Cha Cha, Salsa, Waltz, Tango, Sumba, Jive, Rumba and the Foxtrot.

I no longer have to be embarrassed by my moves, or should I say lack thereof. The moves really were as effortless to learn as the ads said they'd be. As a matter of fact, my two young daughters asked one night if they too could try some of the lessons after hearing their mom and I talk about it. Now The Jive and The Cha Cha are their favorite DVDs. They are 9 and 11 years old.

Not only are we all having lots of fun, but we are also dancing our way to a healthier life too. I noticed shortly after starting the dance lessons that I could soon fasten my belt one notch tighter. My wife mentioned she's noticed a change in the way I look too. She says I now look trimmer and toner. I said the same about her, but of course she always looks wonderful.
